Our 20th wedding anniversary and another pair of gorgeous Calla shoes

Hubby and I recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. First with a romantic dinner a deux and secondly with a few close friends at our place. I spoke of the wonderful romantic evening we had in a recent post, but today I’m sharing what I wore to a special meat-fest (bbq!) at home.

20th Wedding AnniversaryI found this gorgeous little lace dress in H&M a few weeks ago and knew I had to have it, the second I tried it on. It made me feel pretty. And anything that makes you feel pretty is worth buying, right? Plus the fact that it was half price in the summer sale. It cost me just 20 euros (it’s on at £17 on the UK site). Bargain huh?! It’s also available in powder pink and dark blue. Oddly though, I tried on the navy one but it didn’t fit as well as the black dress. Bummer because I would’ve bought they both!

I particularly love the neckline, the pretty cap sleeves and the pale pink underlay beneath the lace. Which, incidentally, matched perfectly with my gorgeous new pink Calla sandals which were very kindly sent to me by the Calla shoe company in the UK.

20th Wedding Anniversary

I’ve talked about Calla shoes before. They are, quite simply, THE most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. Specialising in shoes for women with bunions, Calla offer a multitude of styles to hide that ugly looking (and sometimes painful) bump on our feet. For years, I’ve hated the fact that I struggle to find pretty sandals that not only support my feet, but also hide the bunion well. Calla shoes do exactly what they say they’ll do and I LOVE that about them.

Coincidentally, Calla shoes are also made in Portugal which is yet another reason why I love them so much. This pair, called Rosa wedges, are probably the prettiest pair of shoes in my wardrobe – and I do have rather a lot of shoes! I know I’ll get plenty of wear out of them this summer and for many summers to come. Not only can they be worn with a pretty dress, but I reckon they’d look great with jeans, shorts or a skirt for day wear too. The colour is ideal to wear with pretty much anything and also helps to elongate the legs! So stay tuned 🙂

I love these earrings. If I remember correctly, I bought them from Bijou Brigitte before it closed down in our local shopping centre (bummer).

20th Wedding Anniversary

Thanks to Sarah…

Sarah

We had such a wonderful evening – and I even indulged in a couple of glasses of Moet & Chandon, kindly brought by a dear friend, followed by a glass of Mumm, brought by some other dear friends. Sarah (pictured with me, above) was on hand to decorate the house and she did such a lovely job too. It was one of those magical evenings that was perfect – apart from having to eat indoors because it got a little chilly by the time the food was ready. We took these photos just after the decorations went up and before our guests arrived.

20th wedding anniversary, together for 26 years!

20th Wedding Anniversary

I still can’t quite believe we’re celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary already! As everyone keeps saying, I’d be out of prison by now he he he!! 😉 Hubby and I actually got together shortly after my 16th birthday, so we’ve been together 26 years in total. Crikey!

20th Wedding Anniversary

One of the funniest photos…. me being very rude… 😉
