I fell in love with this dress the second I saw it. And it wasn’t even meant for my age – I bought it from the kids section in H&M! I do that quite often, to be honest. It all started after I lost quite a bit of weight a few years ago and I figured stuff from the kids section would probably fit me. Little did I know that even now (after I put the weight back on), kids stuff, aged 14+, would also work – apart from most of the trousers that is. I guess kids don’t have these kinds of hips lol
Great prints and silly slogans
Do you ever buy stuff in the kids section? It’s such fun, shopping in there. There’s all these super prints and silly slogans and the like that I just can’t resist. I do feel a bit sneaky trying it all on though. Like I shouldn’t be doing it or something, but when it fits, I’m usually giggling in the dressing room like a kid anyway!
Print & shape
It wasn’t just the gorgeous print on this dress that drew me to it. It was also the shape. A flattering shape on a curvy (ish) woman, right? I loved the asymmetrical hemline, the little bit of elasticated waist and the neckline too. To be honest, I can’t really imagine a young girl wearing it. But then, young girls do like to appear older, don’t they?!
Pale pink
But seriously, isn’t the print just divine? It’s fun and classy at the same time. As for the colour – if it was entirely this shade of pale pink I don’t think I’d have gone for it. But the added animal/leaf print just makes it special – and cuts out too much of the wishy washy pink too.
I teamed it with my comfy Zara Home golden sandals, a delicate gold necklace and ring as well as my beautiful gold tiger bracelet that I inherited from my late step-mother-in-law.
Shopping in the kids section
This is the first time I’ve ever bought a dress from the kids section – I usually buy tops, sweaters, vests, etc. So I was really delighted to find it. And, it was in the sale too! Bonus! The only problem with the dress, is that it’s a little transparent so I had to wear flesh coloured knickers underneath it. But that’s certainly not a deal breaker. I will most definitely continue to shop in the kids section in future in the hopes that I might find another diamond like this.
