Couch potato days: our favourite shows on Netflix

If you’ve ever read my ‘About‘ page, then you’ll probably already know that I think couch potato days are the best. If not full days, then certainly coach potato evenings. Lately, hubby and I have been binge-watching Netflix.

The first Netflix series we watched and couldn’t get enough of was The Crown. As I write, the second series begins in just a few days time and we can’t wait. I’ve long been a fan of the British royal family and this drama based on the life of Queen Elizabeth certainly fed my obsession. (I’m not really obsessed, I just couldn’t think of a better word!).

After that, we watched Downton Abbey and I think I actually cried when it came to an end. I want more… I want to know what happened to them all! The fashion, the beautiful old architectural buildings and the accent, and all that drama upstairs and downstairs just made for the perfect TV series.

Then we watched Outlander. Wow did that knock us for six. I mean, if you’ve seen it, you’ll probably know what I mean. The male rape scene was just so shocking that we actually discussed if we wanted to continue with with the series. We did, of course, because it’s simply brilliantly written. We’re currently waiting for the next season to start on Netflix.

Then came The Good Wife. OMG was that fantastic or what?! Again, I didn’t want it to end. But when it did (if you haven’t seen it, stop reading right now), we were so pissed off. What a stupid ending?! We couldn’t believe it. We really thought she deserved a good life after all that shit she went through, and then that happened! Hubby and I just looked at each other with our mouths open. “That can’t be it, surely?” I asked. But it was. TOTAL BUMMER.

What else have we binge-watched? Oh yeah. Homeland. Again, we’re still waiting for the last series to come on Netflix… hurry up already! It really bugs me that, being in Portugal, we don’t have access to nearly half as many of the series as elsewhere. And we always seem to have to wait ages for the series to continue. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we can have finally have peace of mind about what happened to Carrie!

Currently, we’re watching Suits and loving the humour in it. I do enjoy watching a series that is based on law and crime that also features a certainly amount of humour. I mean, two words: Louis Litt. If you’ve ever watched Suits, you’ll totally know what I’m talking about. Also, it’s got the beautiful future princess, Meghan Markle in it, who I’ve long been a fan of. But Louis, well, he’s just such a way out character. One minute, we can’t stand the man, and then the next, he’s completely endearing and we just love him. He’s a laugh a minute really!

We’ve also watched the Mars docu-drama series which was short and sweet but we’re hoping there will be more of them in the future. It was rather fascinating, to be honest. And I did love that it featured documentary-style sections to it as well.

There are all the series hubby and I watch together. I have other favourite too – that I love to watch when he’s out biking. They’re the kind of series, he’s not a fan of. Once Upon a Time, for example, and Star Trek: Discovery are two I’m thoroughly enjoying at the moment. Oh, and some of my friends reckon I look like the Evil Queen from Once Upon a Time! LOL.

Oh I almost forgot. OMG have you seen the trailer for Bright with Will Smith? It looks freaking awesome!
