We had the most fabulous dinner on Saturday night at a restaurant I’ve never been to before. Tasca Iberica, near Gale, Albufeira (Algarve) was a breath of fresh air. Super stylish decor, excellent service and the food? Well… it was absolutely divine. I’ll definitely be returning!
The four of us chose a few starters (tapas, really) to share between us, which were super delicious – cheese platter, sausage platter, peppers and bruschetta. Then onto the main course. I went for the pork with cockles which was heavenly – the best pork I’ve ever tasted (seriously, it was THAT melt in your mouth good). It comes served with ‘xerem’ (a polenta-type side-dish) but I opted for chips instead (!). Other choices were cod (which hubby thoroughly enjoyed) and lamb cutlets, both of which looked seriously good (and I was assured they both were).
I skipped dessert (which I often do due to my lactose intolerance) but there were some yummy choices on offer including orange torte or lime mousse.
On top of all that we had a couple of bottles of water and a large ‘jug’ of house white wine, which was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. All in all, it was a fabulous feast and came to around 30 euros a head, very reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food served. It truly was a delicious dinner at Tasca Iberica.
When we exited the restaurant later that night, we noticed it’s actually part of a ‘hostel’ with rooms to rent. I must hasten to add, it looked more like a five star hotel rather than a hostel! I’m quite intrigued to see what the rooms are like. But perhaps that’ll be another post for another time 🙂
