I’m Suzy Turner — a British-born author, blogger, and YouTuber living a magical life in sunny Portugal with my husband and our little family of four-legged mischief-makers: Myrtle, Shannon, Sadie and Luna.
After moving to Portugal at the age of ten, I fell in love with the slower pace, the beauty of everyday life, and the feeling that anything was possible here.
Now in my 40s, I’m passionate about showing that life only gets more magical with age — whether that’s through the clothes we wear, the stories we tell, or the way we embrace change and creativity.
Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle
On the blog, I love sharing my take on fashion and beauty for women over 40 — blending confidence, a touch of whimsy, and everyday practicality.
I believe personal style should be fun, expressive, and a reflection of who we are right now, not who we’re told to be.
Alongside fashion, you’ll find me writing about mindful living, creativity, and little pieces of magic that brighten everyday life — all with a beautiful Portuguese backdrop.
Life in Portugal
Having lived here most of my life, Portugal is in my bones.
I love sharing glimpses into our life here: the culture, the local quirks, the hidden gems, and the sunny moments (and even the odd spooky one!).
From building our dream home to motorbike adventures through sleepy towns, living here continues to inspire my creativity every single day.
Author Life
Storytelling is my biggest passion.
Since 2009, I’ve self-published 13 novels across Young Adult Urban Fantasy, Chick Lit, and Cozy Mystery — weaving magic, mystery, and heartfelt characters into every story.
Through writing, I get to create worlds filled with wonder, just like the world I try to create around me in real life.
Creativity and Hobbies
When I’m not writing, blogging, or filming for YouTube, you’ll usually find me experimenting with something creative — photography, sewing, exploring AI tools, or dreaming up new projects.
I also qualified as a yoga teacher in 2016 and keep a personal practice focused on flexibility, mindfulness and inner peace.
My husband and I follow a plant-based lifestyle, and we love exploring Portugal’s hidden corners, finding new vegan spots, and embracing the simple joys of life.
Building Our Dream Home
Right now, we’re in the middle of one of our biggest adventures yet: building our dream home here in Portugal.
It’s a labour of love — full of colour, creativity, and, yes, a bit of patience! I love sharing the ups and downs of this journey, and hope it inspires others to follow their dreams too, no matter how wild they seem.

How much yoga do I have to do to get gorgeous arms just like yours?!

LOL Lisa, thank you! I went to a yoga class for about ten months (once or twice a week) and then changed it up to every day at home for between 30 to 40 minutes 😀
It’s so nice to meet you, we have a lot of things in common! I’m a fellow yogi (I’ve been practicing daily for over 6 months), dog lover, Harry Potter- and white wine-fan. I’m currently trying to decide what to do about my hair: to dye or not to dye? I love that you wear your hair poud and proud, grey strands and all. So inspiring! I want to be brave enough and join you!
Also: being a full-time author is a dream. Your life sounds amazing!

Hi Miriam! So sorry for not replying sooner… I only just spotted your comment! It’s lovely to meet you too – especially someone who shares the same loves as me 😀 Since you wrote, I’ve actually dyed the ends of my hair – just the ends, mind you. I’ll never dye it all, never again! But I love the new look… I feel the bleached ends tie in nicely with my silver highlights! You should go for it and let the whites shine through. It’s actually quite empowering! Have a fabulous week.
