We spent a fabulous day at the gorgeous Betws-y-Coed in January, albeit a freezing one! But what a stunning place, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. Although small, Betws-y-Coed is perfectly situated for snow and mountain lovers everywhere, which is clearly very well catered for with plenty of shops selling mountain-climbing gear and suchlike. Not just shops selling mountaineering stuff, though. Oh no, I was like a kid in a candy store in some of the wonderful shops there, with some of the most beautiful items for the home I’ve ever seen. I really wanted to buy so much stuff, but we just didn’t have enough room in the car (boo hoo). Ornamental (fantasy) items that would go perfectly in my dream office, for instance. I’ll tell you more about my dream office soon – that’s a post all on its own! We did make one purchase though – hubby bought himself a nice flat cap to add to his collection.
We enjoyed a cup of hot coffee in a really nice cafe before we drifted about for a few hours, enjoying the beautiful sights (including this very inquisitive beautiful Jackdaw), before we decided it was time for lunch. We ended up in a little hotel on the main high street (not that you can really call it a high street) where we had some yummy sandwiches and shandy (I asked for bitter lemon but the waitress didn’t seem to know what that was so she suggested shandy instead!). All in all, we had a great day before we headed back towards Anglesey driving back through the gorgeous mountains of Snowdonia.
