I love black and orange together. It’s one of those colour combinations that works perfectly. Mind you. I suppose you could say that about any colour with black! But bright colours like this just do it for me. And adding colour in the form of a cardigan is an easy way to brighten up a dark outfit.
The outfit itself is a simple one – high-waisted, tight-fitting black stretchy trousers (think Olivia Newton-John in Grease!), and a pretty black floral blouse tucked in at the waist. I love this blouse. I bought it from Stradivarius a few years ago. It makes me think of late Autumn though, so I wouldn’t wear it during the summer months (it would be too hot to wear here in the Algarve anyway).
These tan boots were the perfect addition to this outfit. 1) Tan goes with e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g 2) they’re just a cool pair of boots 3) they’re from my favourite place: Massimo Dutti 😉
This burnt orange suede handbag was yet another gift from my mother-in-law and I love that, even though it’s not the same shade as the boots or the cardigan, it still goes well with the black and orange. Remember those words from Stacy and Clinton? It doesn’t have to match, it just has to go! This is a good example.
This beautiful gold ring was another gift from mother-in-law (the majority of my rings were gifts from her!), and I bought the earrings from a shop that has since closed down (bummer). As you can probably see, when I’m wearing a floral pattern, I do like to add floral details like these earrings.
We were heading out for a bite to eat in a local Indian restaurant on this occasion, so I also took a thick Massimo Dutti shawl with me for warmth. I’m glad I did too, because it was a bit chilly in there! I forgot to take photos of the shawl but it’s a gorgeous cream one, so it goes well with black and orange.
