I’ve talked before about how I sometimes like to dress to hide a bloated tummy but on this occasion I found an alternative way of going about it: making a bold statement with a black bodycon dress. But not just any black bodycon dress, how about one that brings all the attention to another part of the body? Here I opted for the cleavage! With such a low-cut dress, I guessed that people’s eyes wouldn’t be looking at my tummy lol 😉
Black bodycon dress
Last week I enjoyed a spot of retail therapy and happened across this dress in Pull & Bear. At first I tried on their red bodycon dress option but didn’t feel quite right in it, so I continued looking. Hours later I found myself back in the shop and trying the black bodycon dress on. Instantly I knew. It was perfect. The black helped hide any bits I’m not so keen on, and the very low cut ‘drama’ of the bust would give something else to focus on.
I was also on the look out for a new pair of evening shoes. Now I know I already own rather a lot of shoes but most of them are quite high. Last week, I wore a pair of heels that resulted in back ache for days afterwards so I wanted a slightly lower option.
I was thrilled to discover this pair from Aldo (in the sale too woop woop!). Not only do they give me serious height with their platform soles, but they’ve also got this fun and funky black and cream pattern too. Aren’t they gorgeous?
One of my favourite clutches from Ted Baker finished the look off (the colours are perfect together), along with a cute pair of winged earrings and a couple of silver rings.
Penina Hotel
All suited up and ready for an evening out to the gorgeous Penina hotel with friends. We had a wonderful time too. The Grill restaurant was so lovely and the food utterly divine that we’ll definitely be returning, perhaps for a special occasion? But don’t worry, I’ll take my camera next time!
