Black chiffon dress with jeans—yes…skinny jeans!

After all the colour I’ve been wearing lately, I decided it was time to return to my ‘roots’ and go gothic again! It’s been a while, I know, but I was given a few gothic items for Christmas and I’ve yet to show you! Anyhoo, here is one of my favourites. It’s the most gorgeous black chiffon dress—a gift from my in-laws. Do you like it?

This particular dress has huge ruffles, which I would usually shy away from, but I rather like these. They certainly do make a statement, don’t they? It came with a little black camisole to wear beneath it, but I removed it and just wore a little vest top to preserve my modesty. As well as this black chiffon dress, my in-laws also bought me one in bright pink (a different style though). I haven’t worn it yet because it has short sleeves, but I’m sure it will make an appearance soon enough!

I thought about wearing tights, perhaps a colourful pair, but changed my mind and opted for skinny jeans instead. Why? Because I wanted to give the finger to anyone who keeps saying skinnies are dead! Purlease…If I wanna wear skinnies, I’m gonna wear the skinnies! However, if I did own a pair of wide-legged grey jeans, I might have given them a try too. I think they’d also look pretty good.

These grey skinny jeans are Levi’s, they’re high waisted so are very flattering (you can’t go wrong with high-waist jeans regardless of the style) and I simply adore them. I also like the fact that they’re not too long, either. It’s a problem I often face with jeans, having to hem them. Drives me nuts. These, though, sit perfectly at my ankles. Result!

I have the most gorgeous pair of heeled Doc Martens (very goth-looking) which I considered wearing, but decided on something a bit different instead. These high-top trainers are from Ecco, one of my favourite Danish brands. Michael and I actually own SO many pairs, it’s a bit ridiculous to be honest. But they’re so damn comfortable, we just can’t get enough of them. Plus, they’ve got the most fabulous outlet store not too far away and whenever we’re there, we just can’t resist! I’ve actually got this pair in purple too, only not in high-top. I love that they’re a bit pointy, rather witchy if you ask me!

As per my current preference for bumbags, I figured my little red bag would look the best. I bought it from Stradivarius a couple of years ago. It doesn’t get an awful lot of wear because the belt-like fastening bugs me. I prefer something that is easier to clip on and off! And that’s it, that’s me returning to my gothic-loving self in a black chiffon dress. I haven’t done it for a while, but it does feel good!
