Before I tell you my funny story to make you feel old, let’s have a quick look at the blue outfit I’m wearing today. It’s nothing fancy, just the kind of thing you’ll find me wearing on a day-to-day basis while I’m working at home or popping to the shops. It’s a plain outfit, with the addition of some much needed animal print! The scarf takes the blue outfit up a notch, making it much less boring than it actually is.
I bought these bootcut jeans a few weeks ago from C&A and I must admit, I’m rather loving them. They’re a lovely thick denim and they sit just at the right point below my waist. The jumper is one of three the same (in different colours, of course—blue, black and pink) that I bought from the Benetton outlet store in Faro. And the boots are from Secret Sales. I tried a couple of handbags with this outfit but my favourite was my ‘manbag’ from Massimo Dutti which I’ve had years. I don’t care that it’s quite masculine, sometimes it just works perfectly, like today. But that’s enough of my boring blue outfit, here’s a funny story that happened recently…
Last week Michael and I popped into a local shop to buy a new Nespresso machine, because my old one is starting to do my head in (the button doesn’t always work and the capsules don’t fall out—I have to use some sort of implement to pry them out!). So there we were, browsing the machines when a young saleswoman approached us, letting us know that they were actually on special offer. It didn’t take us long to agree to purchase one, considering it was reduced by rather a lot!
Anyway, to get the deal, we had to give my details. The young Portuguese woman asked my name and I responded as I usually do, Suzy Turner—spelt like Tina Turner (because the Portuguese don’t usually understand what I mean when I say Turner). The girl looked a little baffled, so I typed in my name for her. Once this was all done, we headed over to another computer where she was met with a colleague who then proceeded to fill out another form. He asked my name, and I duly said, Suzy Turner, like Tina Turner. It was only then that the young saleswoman looked at me and admitted that she had no idea who Tina Turner was!!!!
I was so shocked. Then, to add insult to injury, the young man said the same thing, adding, “the name sounds vaguely familiar…” I could barely speak lol. Anyway, when my mouth did start working again, I think I yelled, “WHAT?!! B…but it’s Tina Turner? OMG I feel so old!” By this time, the two youngsters were laughing. We did have a giggle, the four of us. And when we left, she assured me that she was going to google Tina Turner to find out who she was. I still can’t believe it. This is the first time I’ve actually felt old LOL!!!
Has this kind of thing ever happened to you? I’d love to hear about it. But for now, I hope you’ll join the link-up, below, and add all your recent fab posts!
One of my favourites this week was Martina from Lady 50Plus who is introducing us to a German fashion label that we might not have heard of before. The colourful clothing from Stegmann Mode is simply divine, but it’s Martina’s beautiful bright smile in her photos that drew me in! Check out her post at Lady 50Plus.
