I made a circle skirt! Link-up

I still can’t quite believe it myself…I made a ‘wearable’ circle skirt. Well, semi-wearable. It’s fine provided you don’t get too close! Since starting up my YouTube channel about creativity, I’ve been having so much fun watching how other people get creative…and I’m finally starting to get more creative myself and documenting it as I go. Last week, I cut up an old jumpsuit and made a scarf out of it. Not the most courageous act of creativity by any means lol. This week, I decided to flex my creativity a little further and actually made a circle skirt from scratch!

In all honesty, I struggled a bit. I’m not a natural sewer—that looks so wrong, let’s say sewist instead. It looks better! I’ve watched quite a few YouTubers who make Cosplay outfits and everyday clothing and I started to get a bit nonchalant about how easy some it looked. Boy was I wrong. An idiot. Or an eejit (as Marian Keyes likes to say…how I love that word!). Sewing is not easy. Not to start with anyway. And it can involve maths and maths is pretty much akin to a swear word to me. I do not like maths. Not one bit. In fact, I find it quite terrifying if I’m brutally honest.

But anyway, if you’re at all curious about what an absolute mess I made and see what an eejit I truly am, I’m currently uploading the YouTube video as I type. Hopefully, it’ll be live by the time this blog post does too (Friday morning). You can find my YouTube channel here. And don’t forget to like, subscribe and share! (It’s now live, I’ll past it below)

For now though, here are some slightly blurry photos of the circle skirt I made. Even though I blundered through it and got myself into a bit of a tizz, I actually love the way it looks (from a distance). I’m definitely going to keep making them until I perfect this rather vintagey looking item of clothing! And I’ve got three more thrifted bed sheets I intend to use to make them with: a brown one, a green one and an orange one! Watch this space lol! The photos are slightly blurry because I just splashed out of a new (used!) lens and I’m still trying to figure it out.

As for the rest of this outfit, I freaking LOVE these shoes but they were seriously NOT made for walking! OUCH! Also, while taking the photos and video for the channel, I very nearly broke my ankle just trying to walk in the damn things. I think from now on, they will quite possibly be used for ornamental purposes only!

Are you a keen sewist? What do you like to make?

Now let’s get on with the link-up!
