Another creative self portrait photography shoot

Last weekend, Michael went over to Spain for a track day (motorbikes) and so I took the opportunity to do another creative self portrait photography shoot. I had such a lot of fun experimenting with what I’ve been learning lately and I’m quite pleased with the results, to be honest! All the photos were taken using my Nikon D3200 DLSR camera.

Like my previous creative self portrait photography post, I used a couple of lace scarves to add an extra element to the first photoshoot. The difference, this time, however, was that I was shooting outside in direct sunlight. I really enjoyed using the light and the shadows to see what the outcome would be. Here are some examples using the pink scarf…

I also experimented with an old trick that I learned a few years ago (I think it might have been on America’s Next Top Model with Tyra Banks, but I can’t be sure). When you’re outside, the trick is to close your eyes for a few seconds and then, when you’re ready to take the shot, open your eyes up and look directly towards the camera. It allows your pupils to open up, giving the most beautiful effect. I always think it makes me look rather vampire-like, which I love lol! Here’s my favourite shot using that trick…a bit creepy, right?

I also used the same scarf in black. I know what you’re thinking… she has the same scarf in two colours? Well, of course! I completely fell in love with them a few years ago and I just had to have them! I bought them from Stradivarius. Anyway, here are my favourite images with the scarves. As you can see, I clearly favoured these in black and white!

And then, a few hours later when the sun had gone down, I was excited to have a go at taking photos in the dark using my new Himalayan Salt Lamp as a prop. It was a gift from my mother-in-law for Christmas, isn’t it gorgeous? I love these photos because they make me look a little witchy! There appears to be a bit of a supernatural theme going on, doesn’t there? lol It’s so me!

I’ve got so many ideas going round in my head at the moment lol. I’m in the middle of my Udemy photography course, I’ve also started the Udemy videography course too. Oh, and I was given a two week free trial to Skillshare so I’ve been learning as much as possible on there too! My head is about to burst, I think. All that, and I’m still doing my outfit posts, videos and so on. But I’m loving every second! It’s exciting so have so much creativity bubbling inside of me.

I sent some of the photos to my mother-in-law and she’s already put one in a frame and it’s sitting proudly on the landing! Isn’t that lovely? She’s very encouraging about all this, which really is quite special. Anyway, I’d better crack on. See you soon!
