My first time using a DSLR remote control

I’ve been wanting a DSLR remote control for some time. Although my husband usually takes great photos, sometimes he’s just not in the mood and that comes through in the resulting images lol. So, I finally bought myself a DSLR remote control for my Nikon D3200.

ML-L3

The other day I used it for the first time. Let’s just say, I’m still learning and it’s going to be some time until I’ve cracked it lol. Before buying the DSLR remote control online, I did a brief investigation and discovered that I needed an ML-L3. Turns out this remote control isn’t so easy to track down within the EU (I’m avoiding buying from the UK since Brexit because Customs are having a field day!). Luckily, I eventually found one for sale from El Corte Ingles and it duly arrived last week.

After viewing several YouTube videos on how it actually works, I got cracking with my ancient tripod and Nikon camera. It was raining, so I started off indoors. And after half an hour, I was a bit frustrated lol…

Oh dear

I blurred most of the photos from where I’d set the focus on the chair and not the spot in front of it. And in the rest of them, my head was out of shot lol. Plus, the DSLR remote control wouldn’t always work unless I pointed it directly at the camera! Most of the photos, therefore, featured the remote control in full view. But… I persevered…

I ended up getting a few good shots, despite my obvious lack of skill, and lack of decent light. But the results aren’t half bad, really. I’m actually quite looking forward to having another go. Surely I can only get better, right?

The outfit

As for my outfit, everything I’m wearing is pretty old. I wanted to wear something bright, and the electric blue jumper cried out to me. It came from a local Chinese shop a few years ago. I love these wide-legged trousers from Mango, and prefer to wear them with trainers (these are Skechers). The long grey cardigan is one of those things that people either love or hate. Personally, I think it’s fabulous (although it’s looking well worn now!). I bought it from Massimo Dutti about five years ago. The fabulous yellow scarf has been sitting in my wardrobe for a few years and I can’t even recall where I got it from. The yellow necklace, however, is a different story. It was a gift from mother-in-law a year ago. She bought me a blue one too!

My hair

My hair is getting quite long now and I’m unsure what I want to do with it. I’m not prepared to go super short again (although I reckon I will at some point in time lol). When I started growing it again, my aim was for a long style, below the shoulders and perhaps with a fringe. But I’m having second thoughts. Not that it matters right now because lockdown means we’re all having to cut our own hair and I’m not prepared to do that again! So, for now, it stays long. Which means I can have fun with pigtails! I haven’t had pigtails for a while. Fun, right? I love experimenting like this and I think everybody should have fun with their hair, clothes, nails, whatever—life’s too short to be boring!
