This week’s Style Imitating Art inspiration piece is Ellen Terry as Lady MacBeth by John Singer Sargent. Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar (14 Shades of Grey), Terri (Meadow Tree Style), and Daenel (Living Outside the Stacks). Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of the hosts selects an inspiration image and they each post the image on their blogs. The following Monday they share their art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10pm Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog. This week, the curator is Salazar. For the last Style Imitating Art challenge, we styled Dining Room in the Country by Pierre Bonnard.
After seeing Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth, I had grand ideas of creating another piece of art of my own (a bit like I did when we styled Booky)—I was going to wear my long blue Massimo Dutti dress and had intended to wear my red wig. However, when I started getting dressed, even though it was overcast, I got so hot and sticky, I just couldn’t bear it. So, I ended up throwing on my blue and green dress (that I’ve had forever) and added some gold accessories and a blue scarf, et voila… my style interpretation of John Singer Sargent’s Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth!
Even though it’s not quite the grand piece of art I’d intended, I’m pretty pleased with this look, although I couldn’t wear these heels for long. I think I might have mentioned what happened to my toe a few weeks ago? I’m pretty sure I fractured it by walking into a kitchen stool (I’ve done it several times over the years). But that’s not all… a week later, I whacked the damn thing for a second time. Ouch! But wait…another week went by and guess what? I stubbed it for a third time!! By now, my poor little toe was in a right state. I literally sat down and cried for about five minutes because it hurt so much. Anyway, it’s obviously taking a long while to heal so I’m struggling to wear certain shoes at the moment. Thank goodness for the Fit Flops I ordered recently. I’ve been living in them!
Did you style the SIA theme this week? How did you do it? It’s a fabulous painting isn’t it? I’d definitely have this hanging on my wall!
