There have been so many epic style moments on screen over the years that I thought I would talk about some of my personal favourites. I’ve never been one of those women who dresses in one particular style day in, day out. I really like to try out different things, so my favourite epic style moments on screen are quite eclectic…
Madonna, Desperately Seeking Susan
I was born smack bang in the middle of the 70s, so I grew up totally in love with Madonna—her music, her style, her attitude, everything. I even had a Madonna scrap book back then lol. But one of my absolute all time favourites style moments was the way she looked in Desperately Seeking Susan. To me, this look just summed up everything about 80s style. The lace, cropped vests, the multitude of layered jewellery, the bow in her hair, odd earrings… I’m still in awe of her style when I look at it now. In fact, perhaps it’s time I watched it again. Mädchen Amick, Witches of East End
I was absolutely gutted when this series was cut short after only a couple of seasons. I still can’t understand why, because it was so freaking fabulous! Anyway, from the moment Mädchen Amick appeared on screen, I just LOVED her style. Okay, maybe not from the very first moment because she was actually naked lol. But I love her dark vibe, she wore lots of deep colours, kimonos and lace bras on show. She was just one cool chick. Oh, and that emerald necklace? Awesome! Kylie Minogue, Love at First Sight
OMG I so wanted to dress like Kylie when I first saw this video. I just loved how totally cool she looked in her simple white vest (tank top) with the black bra beneath it, baggy combats and pointy yellow stilettos! There’s not really much more to say about it, is there? Apart from Kylie ROCKS!
Emma Thompson, Late Night
I watched this a couple of months ago and I spent most of the time ogling Emma’s outfits. Her character is probably one of the best characters I’ve ever watched on film…I just loved her. Have you seen it? If you haven’t, you need to watch it. It is one of the best chick flicks ever, and her style is so freaking cool. TOTALLY different from any of the epic style moments on screen I’ve already mentioned lol! Late Night is free to watch if you’re an Amazon Prime user.
Jennifer Grey, Dirty Dancing
Now this is probably a bit of a weird one, but the scene where Patrick Swayze is sitting down watching Jennifer Grey learn to dance with his actual dance partner (the one who was pregnant). She’s wearing black tights with silver heels and a striped tank top. It sounds ridiculous but I always thought she just looked super gorgeous in that get-up! Do you know what I mean? So, there’s five of my favourite epic style moments on screen. I avoided all the usual ones like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Clueless. I wanted to share epic moments that perhaps aren’t so well remembered. There are more, so I’ll probably do a follow up to this, I might even make it a series!
