My battle with bunions, foot pain & comfy shoes

Foot pain

Collaborative post

Ah, feet. Those two marvels of engineering at the ends of our legs, so crucial yet often so troublesome. If you’re like me, you might have encountered a few pesky foot issues over the years, from bunions to mysterious midnight foot pain. Let’s dive into the world of feet, shall we? And if you’re like me and on a quest for comfy shoes (most of the time…see below!) and are looking for some relief, I’ve got just the thing for you—how about a pair of orthotic sandals for women? Trust me, your feet will thank you!

The Bunion Blues

I’ve had bunions since adulthood, and oh boy, have they driven me crazy! Some days, I’m footloose and fancy-free, and other days, I’m hobbling around like I’ve stepped on a Lego. A few years ago, my bunions became so unbearable that I gave away all my beloved heels. I still regret that purge, but my feet had had enough. Now, I’m slowly rebuilding my heel collection, even if they rarely see the light of day. After all, who doesn’t love a pretty pair of shoes? I can’t wait for the new house to be complete so I can put all my beautiful heels in a glass cabinet, in my walk in wardrobe, to admire every morning lol.

Midnight Mystery: Sole Pain

Lately, I’ve noticed a new issue: pain in the soles of my feet when I get up in the middle of the night. Is this the start of plantar fasciitis? Who knows! Maybe it’s just another gift from the lovely process of ageing. It might be worth getting checked out, though. The wonders of getting older, right? Until then, I’m treating my feet with extra care and making sure they have the support they need, whenever I can. At the moment, it’s just turned crazy hot here in Portugal and when it’s like that, I can’t bear to have anything on my feet!

A Shoe Lover’s Dilemma

Speaking of shoes, my love affair with them is still going strong. I adore all kinds—heels, flats, boots, you name it (the above is just a teeny selection of some of my shoes, and even a few of those are no longer in my wardrobe). But these days, comfort is key. I’ve discovered that with the right orthotic sandals for women, I can enjoy style and support in equal measure. No more sacrificing comfort for fashion! These sandals provide the arch support and cushioning needed to keep foot pain at bay.

Solutions and Relief

Over the years, I’ve learned a few tricks to keep my feet happy. One of my favourite brands, Calla Shoes, designs footwear specifically for women with bunions. Their shoes are not only comfortable but also stylish, making them a go-to for my everyday wear.

Brands like Vionic and Birkenstock also offer great choices that combine style with support. And let’s not forget the importance of stretching exercises to keep those foot muscles limber. A little yoga goes a long way! Yes…just ten minutes a day helps.

For those days when my feet are particularly troublesome, I turn to my trusty massager that I bought from Amazon a few months ago. Not only does it do wonders for achy back and thigh muscles, but it’s also particularly soothing to use on the feet. It’s amazing how much difference a bit of relaxation and the right footwear can make.

Finding the Right Fit

If you’re on a quest for comfortable shoes that don’t compromise on style, I highly recommend exploring options that offer both fashion and function. And if you’re dealing with bunions or any kind of foot pain, investing in orthotic sandals can be a lifesaver. Remember, your feet carry you through life, so give them the care they deserve.

Happy walking, everyone! May your feet be forever pain-free and your shoe collection fabulous. And if you’ve got any tips or tricks for dealing with foot issues, do share them in the comments. After all, we’re all in this together—hobbling, strutting, and everything in between!
