Style Imitating Art: Girl in Rose and Gray

This week’s Style Imitating Art inspiration piece is Girl in Rose and Gray. Miss Carmel White by Robert Henri. Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar (14 Shades of Grey), Terri (Meadow Tree Style), and Daenel (Living Outside the Stacks). Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of the hosts selects an inspiration image and they each post the image on their blogs. The following Monday they share their art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10pm Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog. This week, the curator is Daenel. For the last Style Imitating Art challenge, we styled Cravat by Elsa Schiaparelli.

I actually didn’t seem to have much time to plan for Girl in Rose and Gray, because I’ve been quite busy the past week or so. However, I managed to squeeze in half an hour to get the photos done yesterday afternoon. As for the outfit, I had absolutely no clue how I would style Girl in Rose and Gray. Truth be told, I completely neglected the title of the piece, and didn’t realise the colour was grey. All I saw were whites, pinky tones and browns! So that’s what I pulled together.

Girl in Rose and Gray

Everything I’m wearing is old. The white linen trousers were from Quebramar, the pinky ruffled top from Promod and the shoes (which I wear a LOT in the summer) are from the Guimaraes shoe shop. I bought the two brownish bracelets last week in a thrift shop and the necklace was given to me by my mother-in-law. And the Ted Baker clutch was a gift from Michael on my 40th birthday. All in all, it’s the kind of outfit I would wear to go out for a bite to eat. Although very simple, I do like it a lot. However, I would have preferred to wear a nice long white or brown (or pink) skirt for this Girl in Rose and Gray theme. Sadly, the only white skirt I have wasn’t quite right.

I wonder what fabulous theme the Style Imitating Art gals have in store for us next time! I do love these fun challenges, and I’m glad I found some time to do it this week. See you soon!
