When I started putting this post together, I hadn’t intended it to be about grey hair. Not at all. But then, whilst going through the photos that we took recently, I noticed this particular pic and loved how it highlighted all my grey hair. Or should I say, all my silvery whites 😉
If you’re a regular reader, you’ll already know that I love it when women wholly embrace their natural grey hair like I have. I quit the dye a long time ago. It must be eight years or so now. I decided to go for the chop, so I went for a pixie to start off with. I adored it from the very beginning. To be honest though, there wasn’t an awful lot of grey hair at the time, but it slowly came. And now, at 44, I do have loads and I just love them!
I understand that many women just simply cannot ‘give in’ to the grey. It makes them feel older, it makes them think that they look older. Oddly enough, since I quit the dye, I probably feel a bit younger than I did before! Probably because I no longer dread the re-growth and have to have it dyed every couple of months (or more). That was the biggest pain in the ass. So when I stopped, I truly felt like it liberated me. On so many levels. I love my natural hair now – more than I ever did before.
Seize the grey!
I know I’ve talked about all this before – several times in fact, on the blog. But I felt like revisiting it right now, because we’re all stuck at home. We’re all in the same situation. And all those women who obsessively visited the salon every six to eight weeks, now simply cannot do that. And I bet many are struggling. But now is the time to start embracing your natural colour and actually see what that colour really is. There are so many women out there that have no idea what colour their hair is beneath all the dye, because they’ve been colouring it for so long.
So, I say, ditch the dye. For now anyway. Don’t even try the DIY dye kits you can get at the supermarket. Reveal your true self. Your true, beautiful self and be liberated. Seize the day – or Seize the Grey as I like to put it! If you click on that link, it’ll take you to my Seize the Grey Pinterest board which is full of pics of beautiful women with grey hair who don’t give a shit what people think. They love their hair and the way it makes them feel, and that is all that matters! Are you ready to seize the grey with me?
Outfit
You know I’m obsessed with jeans and dresses, so I’m predictably wearing them again here! The dress is really old. I bought it from Primark years ago and it has featured on the blog before. Here’s a link to one of my earlier, favourite, posts. The jeans are, in fact, the same jeggings from my last style post and the trainers are my favourite pair of Skechers.
The necklace and ring are the most recent gifts from my mother-in-law. When I told her that my favourite colour is green (not sure why she didn’t already know!), she immediately sent me these. Aren’t they absolutely beautiful?
