This month, the gorgeous Shelbee chose the Fab40s fun theme: to showcase an outfit inspired by space. My initial thought was, “Ooooh space! What would Barbarella wear?” But after duly spending two minutes googling the outfits that Jane Fonda wore in the space-age 1968 hit movie, I decided that perhaps I should choose a different style icon lol. Jane Fonda oozed sex appeal in every single outfit, but they were all erm, well, rather revealing.
Space = silver and black
So, I went down a different path. I figured space = silver and sparkle so I decided to wear my beautiful silver skirt (even though I wore it for the last Fab40s outfit) with a silver sequin strappy top I bought from Zara this summer and a pair of sequined Converse. Then it turned cold. Too cold to wear a strappy top. Hm?
Just when I thought I might have to contend with my new NASA t-shirt from H&M, I opened my wardrobe and something in the corner sparkled at me. It was this fabulously sparkly sequined dress I bought from eBay two years ago (which I’ve only worn once). Perfect. It screams space to me — think twinkly stars in a night sky and you’ll get my drift!
My outfit inspired by space
I teamed it with an old pair of black suede knee-high boots (that I’m sure Barbarella would approve of), a pair of skinny grey Levi’s, a super sparkly necklace and an equally sparkly silver bag (both gifts from old friends). I topped it off with a starry ring (a gift from mother-in-law – you didn’t think I’d forget her, did you?!) Et voila…my outfit inspired my space. What do you think? Is it something you would have come up with?
Now let’s see how the rest of the Fab40s styled the fun theme of inspired by space this month…
Ada, Elegance & Mommyhood
Ada says, “My space inspiration for this one is the stunning sparkly silver snowflake decoration downtown Detroit. The outfit is simple street style cozy on a cold day, but those buckled boots definitely edge it up!”
Ada’s inspiration is pure genius, don’t you think? I think she looks absolutely brilliant!
Lemon sweater and rust beanie both Target (current).
Daenel, Living Outside the Stacks
Daenel says, “I chose to wear my star earrings because, well, stars, and the sweater is speckled like a starry night {I hope you all see it}. And the black boots are a nod to LT. Uhura from Star Trek — my dad was a Trekkie.” And I think she looks amazing. We could quite easily be style sisters, Daenel and I. We often share the same style vibe! And I am so in love with her nod to Uhura, one of my favourite characters from Star Trek (yes, I used to be a bit of a Trekkie too!)
Sheela, Sheela Goh
Sheela could not join us this month but check out her Instagram account which looks like it belongs to Vogue magazine or something!
Shelbee, Shelbee on the Edge
And our stunning guests this month, Sherry and Brandi from Just Live Joy
And me…loving everything sparkly (even my eyeshadow lol)!
See you soon, my lovely friends!
