I’ve been looking for them for a while, and I finally found the perfect pair of khaki combats. YAY! And to make matters even better, I got them in the sale at H&M. I can’t quite remember what I paid for them (I’ve been shopping quite a few times lately!) but they did cost less than 15 euros. What a bargain!
Khaki Combats
I’m also on the look out for a loose-fitting pair – but for those, I guess I’ll just have to wait a bit longer. With trousers of any kind, I much prefer to try them on in store, so buying online isn’t such a good idea. I often have trouble finding good fitting trousers, which is weird because I don’t think I’m an odd shape or anything. I’m a pretty standard size 10. I have an average sized bum, and an average sized waist. My thighs aren’t particularly big or small either. It’s just one of those things I suppose….sigh.
I couldn’t believe my luck when I stumbled across this pair in my size (38 in Europe) a couple of weeks ago. And when they fit perfectly, I think I probably giggled out loud in the changing room. If there is anything I’d change about them, I’d like a little bit more elasticity in the leg – where the seam is around the knee, just feels a bit odd. But not odd enough for me not to buy them lol! Like I said, I’d been looking for a pair of combats for a while!
I’ve just looked on the UK H&M site for them, and lo and behold, they’re there and they’re full price! But they’re not expensive at £29.99. You can find them here.
Cargo trousers
I do actually have a pair of combats (also known as cargo trousers) in my wardrobe, which I did buy online about five years ago (maybe more). If I remember correctly, I got them from eBay (originally from Jane Norman). Although I like them, they’re just a little bit too snug around my bits (!). I’d have to lose a little weight for them to fit perfectly and I can’t imagine that happening any time soon. I wore them once on the blog if you’re curious to see them.
Inspired by Kylie Minogue
I’d love a pair that fit really well on the waist, that are wide and loose-fitting in the legs. I did find a pair like that in Stradivarius but size 38 were a bit too snug and size 40 were too big. I hate it when that happens! Needless to say, I left without a purchase 🙁 Do you remember Kylie Minogue’s video for Love at First Sight (scroll down to see it, below)? In it she wore exactly the kind of combats I’d love. She wore them with pointy yellow heels too, which looked absolutely fab!
Channeling Lara Croft
My new khaki combats from H&M have a bit more of a Lara Croft vibe to them, which I also love lol. I’m a big fan of Lara Croft’s style. Tight vest tops, khaki combats and boots are so cool, right? My look here isn’t quite that but I guess I was channeling Lara just a little bit – adding a touch of rock chick to it (another look I simply adore and like to wear often).
Do you like my new booties? Hubby bought them for me when we went shopping the other week. They were also in the sales (my friends call me the sales queen!) from Rockport and they’re crazy comfortable. And they were less than half price! Bargain.
I bought the black top from Zara. It wasn’t in the sale, mind you. But I figured it’d get a lot of wear throughout the year. It’s the kind of tank top that could be worn over a shirt in the winter.
As for my necklace – would you believe it’s just a cheap thing from Primark? I’ve worn it LOADS of times because I just love the style (like I said, rock chick). I’m hoping to find a decent, similar one, some time soon. I’ll keep you posted!
My handbag was another super cheap item I bought years ago from a local Chinese shop. It’s only cotton so I can’t use it when it rains but it’s great for now, and is super comfortable to hang on the shoulder (I can’t bear uncomfortable handbags!). Sadly, it is on it’s way out though 🙁
Do you wear combats? Do you have a favourite pair? What style are they?
