The little black dress – they say every woman should own a little black dress. To be honest, this is one item that I have always lacked in my wardrobe. No, that’s not completely accurate. I’ve had a couple but they just haven’t felt ‘right’. Until now.
Actually, to be completely honest I’ve had this little black dress for a couple of years but, for some reason, have completely neglected it.
The little black dress from Stradivarius
I bought it from Stradivarius and it was less than 15 euros. A complete bargain for such a cute little dress, don’t you think? It’s clearly not an absolute top quality item for that price but it’s very comfortable – in a soft tee-shirt cotton material. I particularly like that it doesn’t cling over the tummy area – which, let’s face it, is the area most women try to avert attention from.
I’ve only worn it a couple of times – can you believe it?! Once with a pair of jeans and again last week when we had dinner with our neighbours. I wanted to be comfortable but chic and I think I achieved that with my classic gold and pearl necklace (a gift from mother-in-law some years ago), a simple gold bangle, these gold art deco style ear-rings, my trusty Massimo Dutti gold clutch and not to mention my brand new espadrille shoes from Guimaraes shoes in Portimao.
Speaking of my new shoes – can you spot the obvious ‘problem’ with them? No?… Look a little closer… the pattern doesn’t match on each shoe! It’s like one pattern is upside down! But they were only 9.90 euros in the sale and I like them way too much to bother taking them back! I can’t imagine anyone really noticing unless I told them lol. It was the pattern that drew me to them in the first place – it’s also a bit art deco, don’t you think?
Black and Gold
I was told I looked very elegant which is always a lovely compliment to receive, isn’t it? I do love to wear black and gold – it’s a favourite colour combination of mine. But what about you? How do you like to wear your little black dress?
