This is Marinha Beach. The nearest town is Praia do Carvoeiro, which was where I did all my partying as a teenager 😉 In case you’re wondering, no, I haven’t miraculously grown my hair back. I’m only just getting round to sharing these photos with you, which were taken in November! I guess they just got forgotten amidst all the other images on my camera. The photos along these clifftops were taken in the most beautiful location – very close to where I grew up here in the Algarve.
Isn’t it gorgeous? Marinha Beach is actually considered to be one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world, and it’s easy to see why. In 2015, Marinha Beach was officially classified as one of the best destinations in Europe by the European Best Destinations / EDEN European Destinations of Excellence. Cool huh? And all this is on my doorstep.
Hubby and I decided to drop by to take some photos of one of my favourite coats. I bought this yellow coat from Quebramar about a year ago and I love how snug it is. It was quite a chilly day (even though the sun was shining) when we took these pictures so it was exactly what I needed, with it’s snuggly, super soft fleece lining.
I was also wearing my black skinny Levi’s, my black leather knee-high boots (which I just adore), and a top that I bought for 50 cents (!!!) in Primark. It was one of those things that I don’t usually wear but simply couldn’t resist for that price! It’s a sleeveless vest (for want of a better description) with slits up the side. It’s not the easiest of things to style but it did seem to work on this occasion.
I teamed it with a long sleeves black tee and my khaki scarf – not to mention my sweet own necklace that was a gift from a friend. I adore owls, don’t you?
Speaking of animals – at Marinha Beach, there are quite a few wild (yet tame) cats living there on the clifftops. And a local charity has obviously built them a charming little home. Isn’t it cute?
If you ever visit this part of the world, I highly recommend you visit Marinha Beach. It’s a lovely little beach, not to mention absolutely spectacular from the tops of the clifftops. It’s there perfect location to amble away for an hour or two – perhaps finish it off with a picnic on the beach below? On this occasion, we didn’t visit the beach. We just enjoyed the stunning vista around us before we headed back home for lunch.
My home, the Algarve
The Algarve is awash with beautiful beaches – and I can’t recommend it enough as a place to holiday! I’ve lived here for 32 years and, although there have been times when I wished I lived elsewhere, I’ve always realised that this is one of the best places on earth to be. I’ve mentioned a few other places in this gorgeous country before. Perhaps you might remember Armação de Pêra, Lagos, Odelouca, the west coast, Lisbon, Cascais? They’re all fabulous places for both visitors and residents alike. One of these days I will write a post explaining why 🙂
Don’t forget to check out my top picks this week – things that have caught my eye whilst doing a little online shopping. I’ll be sharing exciting new things each and every week so do keep coming back for more!
