I’m sharing a very special space with you today. My ‘office’ is my own little bit of heaven in my back garden. It’s a cute little summerhouse built by my amazing husband last year. After he’d completed it (I helped with some of it…just a little bit), he also created the most stunning desk, fashioned out of old shuttering boards. He really is my very own superman!
We then went about the interior decor. We knew we wanted the place to be inspired by the coast – our very own beach house (bar the sand and the sea) close to home. So hubby donated one of his surf boards to hang on the wall and our lovely friends made us some pebble stone ‘feet’ from their local beach to go on the desk. We bought the beautiful oil painting of waves from a nearby framing and art shop, the miniature lighthouse came from a fab shop in Lisbon while the totally cute bookends came from Zara Home (the kids collection!). Clearly, I had to incorporate my love of Harry Potter so notice the books, wand and cushion scattered around the place. Not to mention our love of things American, Canadian and English (did you spot the little flags and Union Jack picnic basket?) I’m also obsessed with cushions so there are quite a few on the sofa… and counting.
Word signs abound… I found the ‘Every Day is an Adventure’ sign recently in Primark and had to have it because it’s so me, and so this blog! The ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ sign is also important to me as it is one of my many mottos. I’m always buying signs like these, probably because I love words so much.
Some other things I adore in my work space include a painted ‘imprint’ of my niece’s feet when she was just a few months old. I cherish this picture! The tree trunk came out of our garden and hubby duly worked his magic on it to create a stunning little coffee table. There’s also some interesting bits’n’bobs we picked up from the beach whilst hunting for driftwood last year.
I was inspired to share my very own work space with you by WeWork, a network of co-working spaces all across the country. WeWork is a co-working company that builds communities to empower people to do what they love. As they grow throughout the world, creative work spaces continue to be a major focus and source of inspiration for them and they are currently running a project to get people sharing and discussing creative work spaces which is why I’m sharing my heavenly space today!
