The Fab40s are a group of bloggers in their 40s who get together once a month (the last Monday of each month) to style a theme. Last month the theme was Birds of a Feather and this month it was my turn to choose and because April is so often a month known for its rain, I chose—outfit inspired by water (or April Showers). Here is the result…
So, how exactly do you go about choosing an outfit inspired by water? Hm, that’s a very good question lol. Well, I thought not only about the colour of water (when it’s a body of water, that is!), but also about its iridescence which is why I decided to wear silver and blue. When I chose the theme, I had absolutely no idea what I was going to wear, however I spotted this handbag on the Zara site and thought it would go beautifully. That, and the fact that I just had to have it lol. Luckily, it was in the sale and only cost €15.99 (plus a little postage). Isn’t it divine? The blue crushed velvet just spoke to me. It said, ‘water’. And that was that.
So what about the rest of my outfit inspired by water? To be honest with you, I had seen the most gorgeous blue shirt and trouser suit online that would have been utter perfection. Stupidly though, I ummed and ahhed about buying it and when I eventually went to buy it, it had vanished from the internet. DOH. Gutted. So, I had no choice but to have a little trying on session in my cloffice. LOL. So. Much. Fun. I’m like a kid again sometimes! Speaking of which, did you read my post on Friday (with the Neverending Style link-up) about how my new-found creativity is giving me fire in my belly like a kid? No… what are you waiting for? Go and have a read, link up your posts and let me know what inspires your creativity?
Okay, so back to my outfit inspired by water…what I ended up with was this fabulous look (if I do say so myself)—silver satin skirt from Massimo Dutti which moves like water, a grey tee with silver spots (like rain, right? Do you see what I’m doing here?), a blue denim shirt tied at the waist, silver sandals, blue velvet handbag, several blue necklaces, a pair of earrings that look like snowflakes (which I forgot to photograph) and the most beautiful Swarovski crystal bracelet ever! All in all, it’s a watery outfit, right? I took all the photos out by our little swimming pool, because, well….water lol! I’m quite pleased with the result. What do you think? Is it the kind of outfit that you would put together? How would you do it?
Now though, let’s see how the other Fab40s gals have interpreted this outfit inspired by water theme…
Ada, Elegance & Mommyhood
This is probably one of my all time favourite outfits of Ada’s. It’s like this beautiful blue dress was made for this very theme. She looks absolutely stunning in it. And it makes me so happy that she took her photos by the water!
Daenel, Living Outside the Stacks
I am in love with Daenel’s super pretty floral embroidered top, and I love the reason why she chose this outfit, “April showers bring May flowers.” And she says she’s hoping that after all the rain she’s had lately, that there’ll be ‘looooots’ of flowers. Sadly, we haven’t had much rain here in Portugal, so perhaps we won’t have as many. But you never know!
Shelbee, Shelbee on the Edge
I also just love that Shelbee headed down to the water to take her photos too. And I’m giddy that she chose crushed blue velvet for this theme. It’s like we were all on the same wavelength (did you see what I did there?!! Sorry… couldn’t resist!! he he he). Shelbee, I love everything about this look!
And me…
