The perfect hairstyle: a pixie crop with a long fringe

If you’re a regular reader, you’ll have noticed a few weeks back that I had my hair cut, but I neglected to talk about it. One day I had long hair. The next I didn’t. Instead, I had a pixie crop with a long fringe. There’s no particular reason why I didn’t write about it. I just didn’t get round to it until now.
For the past six years I’ve been going from long to short hair intermittently. The first time I went really short (pictured below), was six years ago and it was around the same time that I decided to stop dyeing my hair for good. I finally felt ready to embrace my natural colour and I’m so glad I did because I love my natural colour now, which is full of silvery strands. My stylist told me people often pay a fortune to get colour like this.

When I first had it cut, I also donated my hair to the Little Princess Trust (the UK version of Locks of Love) which makes wigs for sick children. Not only that, but I also managed to raise funds for Make a Wish Foundation at the same time. It was a very worthy cause and fun to raise money just from cutting my hair! I highly recommend it.

Short, long, short, short…

I kept my hair short (and went even shorter) for a little while and then realised I missed what I thought was the femininity of long hair, so I grew it again. It was quite long (probably just passed my shoulders) when I watched a movie in which the main character chopped all her hair off. It inspired me again. I loved her new do and figured I should go short again. And then, a year went by and I let it grow again lol. The picture on the left was only a few months before the one on the right – I think I look like a different person!

Case in point… very bad selfie… very bad hair!

Then came our most recent holiday to the States. I had to wear a woolly hat pretty much every day, and when we went out to dinner, my hair felt like such a mess all the time. So when we returned, I made the spur of the moment decision to cut it yet again. But this time, hubby convinced me to keep the front longer – a pixie crop with a long fringe. That way, I kept some sense of length, which would enable me to still feel feminine when I started getting those silly feelings again.

I thought it was a great idea so I made an appointment to see my stylist. Hubby insisted on coming with me, just to make sure I didn’t come home with it all super short lol. My stylist thought it was hilarious that he was there to supervise! We had such a laugh. And when she was finished, we all loved the result. In fact, I think I might have found the perfect hairstyle – the pixie crop with a long fringe. It’s the best of both worlds. Short and long at the same time! The length at the front will enable me to play around with it and try new ‘styles’ (I haven’t yet though) and the shortness means I can enjoy the ease or short hair. It’s so much easier to deal with. Let’s see how long I decide to keep it!

Or maybe I’ll do this again….. he he he (don’t worry, it was just a wig!!)
