A couple of nights ago, we went out for a meal with friends to our local restaurant and it was still super hot in the evening. I struggled to find something to wear so I ended up with this long flowing skirt and a cute cotton vest top with polka dots on it. I think long flowing skirts are the ideal thing to wear when it’s hot. I’d have preferred one in a brighter colour but black is all I have. As I write, it’s sooooo hot here in the Algarve. At 9am this morning, it was around 30º already! Phew! I don’t cope so well in this heat, so I was cooped indoors with all the shutters down trying to keep it out. I can’t wait until the pool is built!
Polka dots
Polka dots are such a simple design, but one which have stood the test of time. I’ve had this top forever (!) and it does get a bit of wear in the summer but probably not enough. I love the racer back shape, it suits my figure – I’m lucky to have good shoulders 😉
Gypsy skirt?
I’ve had the skirt for about three or four years and would you believe I’ve never worn it? I put it on once and hubby said I looked like a gypsy so I shoved it in the back of my wardrobe and never wore it again. Until the other night when I suddenly realised it would look great with these black sandals and little vest top. I was right, of course 😉
When it’s really hot, I find heavy jewellery too much to bear, so I chose this gorgeous necklace that was gifted to me from Brown’s Family Jewellers last year. I also wanted a light handbag so I used this little black and silver one from H&M ages ago. It doesn’t hold an awful lot but considering we were dining just down the road, I didn’t have the need for much!
In love
When I arrived at the restaurant, my friend told me I looked like I was in love! How sweet is that? I pointed out that she’s completely right, of course! Tomorrow, hubby and I are celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. She also said I reminded her of Pretty Woman. She is the sweetest person ever!
