For today’s Neverending Style link-up, and because it’s almost Halloween, I figured I would have some fun and create a Practical Magic inspired outfit. Not a costume or a fancy dress outfit, mind you, but an outfit to wear any time. I’m not taking inspiration from Nicole Kidman or Sandra Bullock’s characters though, I’m turning to my favourite character in the movie: Aunt Frances, played by Stockard Channing (she’s the one with the parasol in the first YouTube video below).
If I had a large floppy witch’s hat, I would have worn it, but I don’t so I settled on my trusty black summer hat instead, and I think it’s the perfect addition to this witchy outfit. I bought the faux leather skirt a couple of months ago from H&M and I’m so glad I did, because it looks great with the knee-high boots (which are YEARS old, by the way). I chose a simple black knit top to wear beneath my crocheted kimono and added this fabulous scarf that I picked up from a thrift store recently. The second I laid my eyes on it, I knew it must be mine. I mean, just look at the colours! Black, white and bright orange—it’s utterly perfect for Halloween, right?
And because I’m dressing all witchy and quirky, what else should I add but a handbag made of black feathers? The bag belonged to my MIL but she gave it to me a couple of years ago because she hardly ever used it. It’s gorgeous, isn’t it? And finally, I accessorised with numerous witchy-looking necklaces, bracelets and rings—all of which I’m pretty sure were given to me by my MIL lol!
So what do you think of my Practical Magic inspired outfit? Is it something you would wear for a day-to-day look? Or is it a tad too costumey for you? Now, you must excuse me, because my broom is waiting to take me out for a little flight. Happy Halloween Witches!

Because it’s Halloween, I just had to choose Shelbee’s post, Over the Rainbow Halloween Costumes as my favourite this week. Shelbee, and her pal, Monica from Jersey Girl, Texan Heart, styled some super cute outfits based on that old favourite, Wizard of Oz, and they both look SUPER cute! If you haven’t checked them out yet, please go and have a look!
