Welcome back to this month’s Songful Style, the monthly blogger collaboration where Shelbee from Shelbee on the Edge, Marsha from Marsha in the Middle, and I style outfits inspired by a song. Last month, we explored Wildflowers by Tom Petty, a beautifully heartfelt tune that brought out some incredible, serene styles. You can catch my interpretation of that one here. This month, however, we’re stepping away from gentle vibes and diving headfirst into something much cheekier and full of life: Pink by Aerosmith.
Why Pink?
If you’ve ever heard Aerosmith’s Pink, you’ll know exactly why Shelbee picked it. The song is playful, flirty, and packed with tongue-in-cheek humour—it’s almost impossible to listen to it without smiling. It celebrates individuality, freedom, and all the fun of being bold and colourful. And let’s be honest, when Steven Tyler croons “Pink is my favourite crayon,” it’s just iconic.
I’ve been a fan of Aerosmith since the early ’90s. Their mix of edgy rock with a fun, theatrical flair always stood out to me, and their music videos are pure entertainment. Steven Tyler has such an incredible presence—his wild fashion, charisma, and confidence are utterly captivating. (And yes, I’ll admit it, I’ve always thought he was gorgeous!)
On top of that, Liv Tyler, Steven’s daughter, has always been one of my favourite actresses. She’s not only stunningly beautiful but also incredibly talented. I adore her in Lord of the Rings and Armageddon, and she always brings an elegant charm to her roles.
With all that in mind, I knew my outfit had to capture some of Aerosmith’s fun and rebellious energy while staying true to my personal style.
My Interpretation of Pink
When styling this outfit, I wanted it to feel authentic to my aesthetic but still reflect the song’s cheeky attitude. Instead of going all-out in pink (which I probably would have done if I’d enough pink in my wardrobe lol), I focused on combining elements of fun, boldness, and individuality.
The core of my outfit is a long denim dress (thrifted) layered with a brown knitted vest (Vinted)—a combination I love for its casual, cosy feel. But the real showstopper is the tattoo-inspired mesh sleeves underneath. These sleeves are completely out of my norm, but that’s exactly why I love them! They bring a bold, rocker edge to the look, echoing Aerosmith’s daring style.
I also added some playful accessories, including sunray earrings (because why not be a little extra?) that I found on Vinted and a vibrant geometric handbag that injects a bit of colour into the ensemble. These details give the outfit a pop of whimsy while keeping it wearable and true to me.
A Subtle Pink Statement
While the outfit isn’t drenched in pink, I’ve woven the colour into subtle elements that tie back to the song. Pink appears in the patterns on my bag and as hints in the tattoo-like print of the sleeves. It’s a softer, more understated approach that fits my vibe better than an all-pink look would have.
And honestly, Pink as a song isn’t just about the colour—it’s about standing out, being bold, and embracing who you truly are. This outfit captures that spirit for me: it’s fun, rebellious, and a bit unexpected but completely down to earth at the same time.
How the Song Inspires Me
Listening to Pink always puts me in a good mood. It’s cheeky without taking itself too seriously, and I love that energy. It reminds me to be playful with fashion, to try something new, and to embrace the fun of self-expression. This month, I actually toned things down compared to what I might normally do for Songful Style. I had to wear this outfit to a lunch and wanted something that felt stylish and fun but also practical for the occasion.
What Do You Think?
I’d love to hear what you think about my Pink-inspired outfit. Do you think it captures the playful, rebellious energy of Aerosmith? How would you style an outfit based on this song?
Make sure to check out how Shelbee and Marsha interpreted Pink too. I can’t wait to see their looks! You can find their posts here:
Thanks for joining us for another month of Songful Style. We’ll be taking a break in December but we’ll be back on the last Monday in January to style the beautiful song Follow The Sun by Xavier Rudd. I hope you’ll join us then for another musical-inspired adventure! Don’t forget to add your posts to the link up, below!
Pink by Aerosmith
Pink…it’s my new obsession…yeah
Pink…it’s not even a question
Pink…on the lips of your lover
‘Cause pink is the love you discover
Pink…as the bing on your cherry
Pink…’cause you are so very
Pink…it’s the color of passion
‘Cause today it just goes with the fashion
Pink…it was love at first sight
Yeah, pink…when I turn out the light
And pink gets me high as a kite
And I think everything is going to be alright
No matter what we do tonight
You could be my flamingo
‘Cause pink…it’s a new kinda of lingo
Pink…like a deco umbrella
It’s kink that you don’t ever tell her
Yeah…pink…it was love at first sight
Then pink when I turn out the light
Yeah…pink gets me high as a kite
And I think everything is going to be alright
No matter what we do tonight
Yeah…
I…want to be your lover
I, I wanna wrap you in rubber
And it’s pink as the sheets that we lay on
‘Cause pink…It’s my favorite crayon
Yeah
Pink…it was love at first sight…yeah
Pink…when I turn out the light
Yeah, pink…it’s like red but not quite
And I think everything is going to be alright
No matter what we do tonight
