Please excuse my semi-translucent white skin but it’s been a long while since it saw the sun! Finally, last week we woke up to glorious blue skies and the Spring began in earnest. YAY! At last, I could show you something pretty cool that I received several months ago. It’s a tan-through swimsuit. In other words it doesn’t leave you with those annoying tan lines. How awesome is that? Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong size so the swimsuit you see in the photos is a tad large for me (but I think I hid it well!).
The Cooltan tan-through swimsuit is made from Microsol®, a unique lightweight fabric that lets sunlight through the swimsuit like a medium level sunscreen. According to Cooltan, you’ll get a tan about as fast as you would with a medium SPF sunscreen. Air and water flow right through the fabric, so you’ll stay cooler and drier even on hot summer days.
I’ve only tested the tan-through swimsuit out once and I did catch some sun and I must say, my tan lines weren’t as obvious as they usually are. I’m definitely going to be wearing it around the pool this year so I’ll keep you posted on how I get on with it.
Tan-through swimsuit
As a fan of khaki and all things camouflage, I couldn’t resist choosing this particular tan-through swimsuit. It is pretty fabulous, isn’t it? The weird thing is, the fabric appears to be quite transparent but when you put it on, you can’t really see through it. Well, not the bits that matter, anyway! For example, below, you can see my belly button piercing but as for erm (ahem) lower, it doesn’t appear to be see-through. I didn’t try the swimsuit in the pool though so I’m not sure what it’s like when it’s wet.
Because I wasn’t quite ready to bare all, I wore my black fringed cover-up from Primark and my big black hat which either came from Primark or H&M (I can’t remember which!). My gorgeous Replay sandals were a gift from hubby many years ago and they’re still going strong.

So if you’re currently planning your summer holiday, keep Cooltan in mind if you’re hoping to get a great all over tan. But don’t forget your sunscreen and your big floppy hat! 😉
