A new global writing challenge was recently started by a group of blogging friends—Gail from Is This Mutton (UK) Deb from Deb’sWorld (Australia), Mary Katherine from MK’s Adventures in Style (USA), Penny from Frugal Fashion Shopper (UK) and Jill from Grownup Glamour (Australia). On the third Thursday of every month they’ll respond to the prompt “Tell Us About XXX” which could cover any subject matter. It could be a blog post with opinions or memories; a poem, photos, anything at all. Last month, the first of the challenges was “Tell Us About…Time“. This month, the challenge is ‘play’.
One of my favourite kinds of play is playing dress up (no surprises there, right? lol). And it’s playing dress up that has been my main source of play since turning 40 when I decided to start blogging about clothes, style, fashion, etc. Initially, I played on my other blog, Suzy Turner, but a couple of years ago, I created The Grey Brunette so that I could have a place specifically dedicated to playing dress up. I must say, I’ve been having a some good play time, shopping, figuring out my own sense of style, gaining a huge amount of confidence in the process, and just generally having fun.
I’ve had some creative photoshoots—some with Michael, and some just on my own because I happen to rather enjoy my own company. Here are a few of the photos taken when I’ve clearly been having a whale of a time playing dress up…
Speaking about play, I should also mention that I’ve just started playing Playstation! There’s a funny story about me and the Playstation…way back when Michael and I were young (in our early twenties), Michael went through a mad gaming phase. He and his best mate would literally play for hours on end, and I would simply watch because it was Tomb Raider and I loved it! Michael would try and encourage me to play every time, but I always said no, because I just lacked the patience for it.
Anyway, one day while he was at work, I decided to give it a go. So, I duly started the game up, and began playing. And then when I’d finished doing a terrible job, I saved my game…over his DOH! I don’t think I’ve ever lived it down. He had been almost at the end of the game and I’d gone and wiped it all lol. Needless to say, it put me off trying to play. For good. Well…until now. And the reason for me having another go? Simple. Hogwarts Legacy. If you know me, then you’ll know that I have been a huge fan of Harry Potter ever since the first book came out all those years ago. And seeing as Michael started gaming again last year, we simply couldn’t resist buying the game. I’m still very nervous playing it…and I tend to prefer to play when I’m alone but I am enjoying it nonetheless. Michael is playing it too, but it’s way more difficult to save my game over his now LOL!!!
So that’s it, my interpretation of the pay challenge! What do you do for play? Now let’s get on with the link-up! See you soon!
