Tormentors, a story in aid of a very worthy cause

I’m absolutely thrilled to have an old friend guest posting on the blog today. Pauline Barclay is an author I admire and have known (although never physically met!) for probably ten years or so. So let me just hand you over to Pauline now…

Thank you, Suzy, for offering me a spot on your fabulous blog, I am always so happy to be here. Suzy and I met on social media well over a decade ago and have throughout those years kept in touch and followed each other’s creative journeys. Today, I am talking about my latest publication that has created a great deal of interest, particularly in the education sector. Thanks to Suzy, I am able to share this with you.

Tormentors is just 12,000 words, but what you will read in those words will open your eyes and break your heart to how crushing bullying is.

Tormentors is fiction based on a true story. I met a young man at the end of 2023 who told me about how horrendously bullied he had been at the age of thirteen, so much so that he had wanted to end his life. Today, that young boy is twenty-nine and a successful young man, but he puts this down to his amazing mum and the wonderful support of a charity, Red Balloon, Norwich, Norfolk. Red Balloon is a special school for victims of bullying who are unable to attend mainstream school. After talking with Sam about his bullying, I was so incensed at how this could happen and still does today, that I decided to write a short story to help create further awareness of how crushing bullying is. In light of the amazing work of Red Balloon, I decided that any royalties from sales of Tormentors would go to Red Balloon, Norwich.

Tormentors is a gripping, utterly heartbreaking page turner.

Dillan Mortimer, a happy intelligent thirteen-year-old, suddenly finds his life is about to change when a new boy, Connor Brooks, joins their class. Connor instantly befriends Dillan’s classmate, Bradley Jenkins. What follows will change Dillan’s life forever.

Tormentors is published in Kindle and paperback and available through all Amazon sites.

As part of my campaign to create as much awareness of bullying and Tormentors, I along with the Head of Red Balloon, Drayton Road, Norwich, UK, did an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk Three Counties. Below is the link if you are interested in listening. The interview lasts ten minutes.

As well as writing, I spend much time also promoting Tormentors on social media in the hope it will bring further attention of this evil practice. You can find out more about me on my Website, Blogsite, and most social media platforms.

Thank you, Suzy, for having me sit with you and talk about my story. Also, a thank you, visitor, for joining me here.

I hope the sun is shining on your face and in your heart.
Hugs, Pauline

Pauline, it’s such a pleasure to have you on the blog, especially with you talking about something so important. I hope everyone goes and buys a copy of Tormentors to help support this amazing charity. I’ve just bough my copy!
