I love quirky style, especially quirky shoes. I don’t always dress that way—when I’m at home, I’m usually in jeans, a thick sweater, thermal socks, and my Croc slippers (in the winter that is lol). At least, that’s the case until we move into the new house, which will be warmer than this icebox we’re currently living in! But once the cold isn’t an issue, I fully plan to swan around the house in all the quirky, whimsigoth, vintage-inspired pieces I’ve thrifted (mostly from Vinted). And when I say swan around, I mean in full Phryne Fisher style! (From Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, the Australian TV series from 2012 to 2015 that I LOVE. Her style is just stunning—French kiss—stunning!). I want to actually wear all my fabulous clothes rather than saving them for when I go out! And that includes my favourite quirky shoes.

Now, I won’t be strutting around the house in my highest heels—those are reserved for dinners out when I can sit more than I walk! But I do have some lower heels that I recently bought, and I can’t wait to start wearing them more. My collection is a mix of vintage-style and straight-up quirky shoes, and I LOVE them.
One of my most exciting recent finds of quirky shoes was not one but TWO pairs of Irregular Choice shoes in my size from a Vinted seller. I had literally just convinced myself to stop buying for a while, but resistance was futile! They’re such a fabulous brand, and their designs are the definition of quirky. You can see the photos further down in the post. Another brand I adore, though not necessarily for their quirkiness, is Timberland. I have so many pairs and love them all—stylish AND comfy! So I’ve just had a look at their current collection and they’re not very quirky at all but some of their more vintage styles are like these ones, below, they I bought from Vinted.

Speaking of quirky shoes, I recently picked up a pair of Steve Madden shoes (below) that have a similar vibe to Converse All Stars but are super pointy with a little heel. They are SO cool! But let’s talk about some brands I’ve recently discovered (but not yet purchased… give me time!).

Mimao, a Spanish brand, recently started advertising to me on YouTube, and I was instantly hooked. Their shoes look incredibly comfy, and I’m obsessed with the green suede Mary-Janes. They’re barefoot-style shoes, designed to give your toes plenty of space, which sounds like perfection. I’ve already scoured Vinted for a pair, but no luck finding the green ones yet! Watch this space.
Another brand that thrift-loving fashionistas probably know well (but I only just discovered) is John Fluevog. Apparently, their 90s-style super thick-soled cowboy boots have been all the rage in recent years. Alexa Sunshine83, a thrifting queen on YouTube, was thrilled to find a red pair, and I totally get why! As someone who loves chunky shoes and boots, I’m very tempted to hunt down a pair for myself. I figured they wouldn’t be on Vinted, but I was wrong—there are quite a few! Not loads in my size, and they are pricier than what I’m used to, but you never know!
I’ve also come across loads of other quirky shoe brands on Vinted, but (typical me) I forgot to note down their names—doh! Interestingly, many seem to be Spanish brands. Spain and Portugal (where I live) are actually known for their quality leather shoes. Did you know that? Calla Shoes, a great brand that makes stylish options for women with bunions, has their shoes made here. Fly London is another brand I’ve had my eye on—they make shoes that are just that little bit different. And then there’s Camper, a brand my husband already has slippers from but that I’ve yet to try myself. But I’d like to have some of their quirky shoes! Our Italian friends tell us there’s nothing more comfortable than Camper shoes! And these ones certainly look comfy…and very quirky!

And let’s not forget some of the more well-known brands that occasionally surprise us with super quirky styles. Clarks, for example, is a brand you might not immediately associate with quirky shoes, but every now and then, they release something fabulous. I actually found a super cute pair of rose gold Clarks shoes on Vinted (of course!) that are totally quirky and fun!

If you’re looking for even more quirky shoe brands, here are a few worth checking out (click the images to be taken to the respective sites):
- Dr. Martens – While known for their classic boots, they also release some wild, colourful, and patterned styles. I recently spotted some super fun, embroidered ones on Vinted but I was too late to buy them and someone else got there first! Mind you, they were pricey because they are a bit more rare.

- Jeffrey Campbell – A go-to for edgy, quirky, and statement-making shoes. You can also find Jeffrey Campbell shoes on Amazon.

- Ruby Shoo – Perfect for vintage lovers, with fun prints and retro silhouettes. I have one pair of Ruby Shoos and I love them! So quirky. You can also find them on Amazon.

- L’Artiste by Spring Step – Unique, hand-painted designs with a European flair. They are also available on Amazon.

- Melissa Shoes – Brazilian brand known for funky, scented, and eco-friendly jelly shoes (also available via Amazon). So these shoes keep popping up on my Vinted feed but I’m just not quite sure about the whole jelly shoe thing! What do you think? I mean, they are super cute though!

- YRU – If you love platform shoes with a fun twist, this brand is a must-see. I’m most excited about their Monster High collaboration! They’re so cool! I shall have to see if I can bag myself a pair on Vinted lol. They have a few pairs available on Amazon but not many. I do like this pair though…

- TUK Shoes – Famous for their rockabilly, punk, and alternative-inspired styles. Also available on Amazon.

Poetic Licence used to be a fantastic brand for quirky, whimsical, and vintage-inspired shoes, but sadly, they seem to have gone out of business. Their official website is inactive, and their shoes are no longer available through major retailers. However, you can still find some second-hand pairs on platforms like eBay and Amazon if you’re lucky! OMG…as I was about to take photos for this post, I realised that one of the pairs I thought were Irregular Choice are in fact, Poetic Licence! How funny is that?!

I’ve always been drawn to shoes that are brighter, funkier, and just more fun than the usual boring ones. Even my trainers from ASICS and Skechers (and Puma by Rihanna, below) tend to be on the more colourful, interesting side. Because honestly? Life’s too short for boring shoes!

So, what about you? Do you love a good quirky shoe as much as I do? Are you all about bold colours, funky patterns, or unique shapes? Maybe you’ve got a favourite brand I should check out! Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear all about your fabulous footwear!
